ECB on Covid-19

Following the Government’s latest advice around social distancing, it is with sadness and reluctance that we recommend that all forms of recreational cricket are for now suspended.

This extends to training, pre-season friendlies and any associated cricket activity.

Sport plays an absolutely vital role in the nation’s mental and physical well being, and it helps people find meaning where there is fear and uncertainty, so one of our goals in the coming weeks will be to explore ways that we can support some levels of physical activity in communities - particularly at junior levels.

Using our cricket community to support others could be one of the most important services we can offer during the difficult next few months.

It will be critical that any decisions we do make are medically-led. And we will continue to work with Government and their advisers to ensure we are informed by science in our decision making.

Over the coming weeks we will work with the game to understand what support is required across the cricket community, particularly local clubs and leagues.

We understand that countless hours of work from thousands of volunteers have already gone into getting ready for the 2020 season and we know how disappointing this will be. We are thankful for the huge role that volunteers play in local cricket, to ensure the game remains at the heart of communities.

We know that you and your clubs can play an important role in bringing your community together once we get past this period of time.

Northwood CC is an ambitious, well established and family orientated cricket club, who have been playing at our Ducks Hill Road ground for over 130 years. With state of the art nets and practice facilities, including a bowling machine, and as of 2015 a newly laid square, with more planned improvements to the playing area over the next few years NCC is looking positively into the future. We have 4 Saturday league XI's playing in the Saracens Hertfordshire Premier League Division 2B, 6A, 10A and Regional B West respectively as well as a Sunday Friendly XI. We have a clear objective to have a open and clear pathway for colts into adult cricket with colts now part of every XI in the club. Nurturing and developing talent is a high priority, with state of the art facilities and top coaches available. Northwood CC can also boast many other sporting events, including a renowned Cricket Week in July, a bi-annual match against the MCC, and a tour. With some of the best teas in the county and a great social scene throughout the year Northwood CC is the place to play or spectate.

The Bar and Social activities remains key to this family club, that embraces new members and strongly encourages the camaraderie of all the sides late into the evening every Saturday and Sunday after matches.

We are always actively seeking new Junior and Adult cricketers of all standards for the 2020 season. Anyone interested in playing, whether at 1st/2nd team level or just for the social aspect, can join our net sessions (Winter: Wednesday's 9-10pm @ Merchant Taylors School, Summer: Wednesday's 6pm @ Northwood Cricket Club). Anyone interested in joining our youth section should contact Keith Wallis (youthsection@northwoodcc.co.uk).

Northwood CC also has a growing Colts section, accepting boys and girls from ages 7 upwards, with U10a, U10b, U11, U12, U13, U15a & U15b and U17 teams entered in the Middlesex Colts Association North Area League for 2020.

New members, scorers, umpires and supporters are always welcome at Northwood CC.
