2023 Tour to Isle of Wight

08 May 2023

   Morning Ladies & Gents

We have 21 confirmed players & socials so far this tour.

I know many more have informally said that they will come. We have 8 players of varying abilities so far and of course, we will need a squad of more so that we don’t all play each day.

Those that are confirmed don’t need to re-confirm, but if you want to join the tour, please let me know soonest. I will send out more details nearer the time, but we have 4 games over 4 days on 12-15th June inc. Staying at the Medehamstede Hotel, close to last years’ Hotel. Sorry, no dogs. ( I have asked)

The rate per person is £36 per night, B & B. This is a decent price.

As usual, the single rooms go quickly. So, share if you can, but a double room with single occupation is charged at £65 per night. Let me know what suits you best so that I/we can accommodate you as best as possible.

For those who have not been its brilliantly situated in Shanklin – ideal for beach/chyne and the old town too.

The games we have this year are slightly different;-

Monday 12th  June

2pm vs Newport CC at Newclose. We’ve played here before, but Newport CC now have tenure and are hosting us. Im trying to negotiate a time game.

Tuesday 13th June

2pm start vs Island Bakeries CC at Porchester. We’ve played these guys each year and they actually contact ME to arrange the fixture. This is a time game

Wednesday 14th June

1.30 or 2pm vs Shankill & Godshill CC. This is where some of us saw Pinner play last season. Lovely ground, about 10 minutes from the hotel, although a minibus can take us all. A 35 overs game.

Thursday 15th June

6pm start vs Ryde CC, a T20 match to finish the tour, after a day at leisure. Once again, these guys contacted us and even though it’s a short format, it may be a blessing for some of us old ones!

Once again Minibus is available, free, courtesy of our sponsors, Complete Fire Protection. Ferries are available via Wight Link or Red Funnel. You can save £10 per vehicle crossing by booking early.

Evening meals are entirely up to you though Newport and Island Bakeries will no doubt provide BBQ. Wednesday is the farewell dinner, with awards as befits the misdemeanours of our party members.

This is the last tour to Isle of Wight. Please don’t miss out. It’s a lovely Island, quaint villages and great food. Players and Socials all welcome. No deposit to pay.

Please advise soonest if you wish to come on tour, even for a day or two. Please forward to anyone who is not on this list.

Hope to see you soon…..
