Match report
Noachies men made the long trip up the M1 to Ampthill. For probably the 10th time in as many years we have played away. However, once you get there it is a fantastic place to play cricket. For once we managed to get there on time with the accident on the M1 only inconvenciencing a few of the players. Reggie came over the night before and was in an excellent state. Sadlyu Noachie had a groin strain and was unable to bowl and with no Sharland Ram was called up from the Seconds and Stewie Reevo opened the bolwing.
Ampthill won the toss and unsurprisingly batted firsts. Their opener was fooled by Reggies condition and thinking there was a single to the Orange Man, ran out his colleague who realised Reggie was in good shape. He was run out by 20 yards.
However, this brought their danger man to the crease and in his usual fashion proceeded to hit the ball "elegantly" to all parts. Sadly this included one through Danny Rodgers fingers, dislocating his little finger and ending his participation in the field. Luckily their keeper's rather attractive partner and osteopath was on hand to adminster to Danny's bruised fingers. However this was one of a couple of chances that didn't stick. Raj caught a caught and bowled off a no ball. Goodspons had little chance with a skyer that didint quite go to hand and other times, the ball seemed to "hit the gap". Finally we got rid of them both and we then took 5 quick wickets but sadly they finished on 232-7. Stewie and James bolwed excellently with Ram also keeping a tight line. Sadly Reggie "no balls" Latchman got panned a bit. We were missing Noachie's extra pace/bounce etc.
In response, without Danny, Nuss and Brockers opened. Brockers soon succumed LBW, but Nuss was in fine form (even though I say so myself - About time too!!) Hitting 46 in 4s and one 2, Nuss took control of the width allowed by Ampthill's bowlers from the football end. Raz helped put on 50 for the first wicket and then Mace joined in. with a quickfire 30 (most cut off middle stump!) . Ampthill then put on the spinners adn with an ageing ball, proceeded to tie Nuss down. He added an excellent 2 to his score before being out bowled. A game of two innings, which sadly cost the game. Noachie was unable to run but still whacked a few but not enough as Stewie Noachie and James Lewis all fell to the spinners. Ram then was joined by Reggie and they took us up to 155 to get the extra points but again he fell LBW, the 4th of the innings.
OVerall some positives to take from the game. Losing Danny and an unfit Noachie were blows but we put up a good performance. Here's to 30 points and an equally sober Reggie next week. New leaf???
