Flitwick v Northwood Cricket Club 1st XI on Sat 30 May 2009 at 1:00
Match was Drawn NCC got 11 points

Match report Northwood travelled to Flitwick in Bedfordshire on Saturday looking for their second win of the season and having played some excellent cricket last week were confident of another 30 points. Winning the toss and batting first on what looked like an excellent track Flitwick made good progress assisted by Stu Reeveā€™s radar being somewhat off track raced to 50-0 off 11 overs. Tom Brockton and Paul Richardson put the brakes on to an extend but it was not until the introduction of the spin twins of Rossco Noach and Raj Latchman that the away team began to assert any authority.
Noach took the first wicket to fall, caught by Steve Hussey behind the stumps. This left the home side well placed on 121-1 off 25 overs. However NCC began to dry up the runs, ably assisted by Raj, who along with Jim Lewis (unfortunately missing in this game) have been the outstanding bowlers in the 1st XI this season. Some excellent fielding by debutant Ash Dhamatunge and Craig Nichols, including an outstanding one handed dive, and throw while still on his knees to run out the dangerous looking no5 also helped to restrict the home side. Raj was settling into an excellent spell of slow left arm spin on his way to 5-71 off 18 overs, Ash also joined in the party taking his first league wicket for the club (1-37 off 8) and NCC were rightly happy with restricting the home side to 238-9 off 53 overs.
Nuss and Brockers opened the innings knowing that a partnership for the 1st wicket was important in getting NCC off to a good start. Unfortunately it was not to be as Nuss received a decent delivery from the Flitwick paceman and was sent on his way for 0 after a thin edge was gobbled up by the Flitwick skipper behind the stumps. Rossco and Brockers pushed the score on to 40-1 in the face of some shockingly bad banter from the Flitwick slips (they were so happy Noachie Snr was not playing having taken 8 for not much there last year) and at this stage looked to be progressing nicely towards their target.
Brockers departed adjudged LBW and Wise/Richardson and Steve Hussey all soon followed. An enterprising stand between the returning Simon Fox and Rossco nursed NCC past the 120 mark, but with overs running out Rossco departed for a well made 41 as he made room to cut. Fox was then also given out LBW, as was the debutant Ash (first ball) and it was left for Stu Reeve and Reggie (who was on a hatrick of golden globes) to see out the final overs to ensure NCC a creditable draw with NCC closing on 150-9
