Harrow St Mary's v Northwood Cricket Club Under 15A on Thu 19 Apr 2018 at 5.30pm
Northwood Cricket Club Won by 12 runs
Match report
U15 Cup Northwood 72-5 (15o) beat Harrow St Marys 60-5 (15o) by 12 runs
The u15As got their season off to a cracking start with a hard-fought win against top-division opponents on a warm, even hot, evening at HSM. Runs were always going to be at a premium on a slow and low early-season wicket after all the rain, and with a lot of grass on a big outfield. HSM also had 3 much-vaunted bowlers, 2 quicks and a Middx spinner although some of their players were absent on tour in Barbados (lucky them!). NCC batted with great common sense, realising that 70-80 could be a winning score with James Ben & Charlie and Extras all contributing well.
HSM took 10 off the first 3 balls of the reply, suggesting that we were up against it but a run-out mix-up removed probably their best player and some of their younger boys struggled to make any headway from accurate bowling from Tyler, Ryan and Manav. Anish came back well in his second spell, but best bowler was probably Amey who was very threatening. 17 off the last over proved too much and Northwood had a well-deserved win. Fielding generally stood up well, although Thapan’s decision that it was too dry for spikes was not one of the day’s best, and James captained very maturely.
We look forward to the start of the league campaign next week vs Bessborough
