Match report U15 League Northwood 93-3 (15o) beat Bessborough 53-8 (ao, 13o) by 40 runs

This was an ultimately comfortable win after a bit of a sticky start. We struggled to locate bat on ball in the early overs, with the pitch offering something for both batsmen and bowlers. While James made a far-from-fluent 11, the innings only really got going when Ben (29) gave it impetus. He and Kabir started to put pressure on the fielders (2 men short) and eventually the run rate started to soar. Kabir, who also took time to impose himself, moved up through the gears in the final overs, with a magnificent ‘IPL’ switch-hit 4 off the last ball taking him to 36*.

With the ball we were generally disciplined and Bessborough never really threatened our total. Manav did what Manav does and bowled 3 overs for 6, while Tyler removed the main danger man Thilakshen. Ryan and Amey also picked up a wicket apiece, while Jashan bowled a very steady over in his first outing of the season. James applied the final flourish with 3 wickets in his sole over. This, though, together with the limitations of a 15-over match unfortunately prevented others from getting a bowl.
