A compelling game which ebbed and flowed until the last dramatic over. We scored at around 5 an over consistently in our innings with James (19) Kabir (24) and Ben (32*) all looking assured before a final flourish from William (16*) gave us a competitive but not commanding score. Hayes started well but Anish, kept back to first change and champing at the bit, tore into the batsmen recording 4-7. The other bowling was mixed although we looked to be heading for a fairly comfortable win with 62 needed off 8 overs before an impressive Hayes player took a liking to James. Anish returned to remove it, and with 8 needed off Amey’s last over the game was evenly poised. However Amey had other ideas and 2 LBWs and a bowled gave him a fine hat-trick. We held our nerve to see the game out, which was pleasing after 2 recent narrow defeats. Well done boys!
