Match report NCC Friendly XI 126-8 beat u15s 113-3 by 13 runs

The inaugural dads/Coaches match was a well-contested game where the u15s, despite competing well for the vast majority of the game and certainly out-fielding their more mature opponents, couldn’t quite get over the line. Despite attempts to get dads facing sons wherever possible, no-one directly perished in this way, although Charlie caught Bob and Nick was run out in a failed attempt to get off strike off James. Pav (31*) in his new buccaneering style, and Adrian(25*) in a more measured fashion, made 25 and had to retire with cameos from Neil, Arjun and Ram giving momentum. Mughi sending stumps cartwheeling with 2 yorkers was a sight to see!

In reply James (26*) got the boys innings off to a very fluent start and raced to 25 and retirement. Ben (25*) and Charlie looked to be setting up a close finish but with Kabir absent injured and big hitter Mughi missing out, the lack of the expected buffet bowler(s) meant that the boys innings didn’t quite pick up enough momentum. Shankar, Adrian, and Prashant were among those to bowl very accurately, indeed the boys would probably have fared better against faster bowling!

All in all, a most enjoyable evening, hopefully to be repeated. Thanks to MOBO for the BBQ, Wattie and Nuss for umpiring and all the non-Dads who turned out to play.
