Match report U17 League Northwood U17 142-3 (19) beat Harrow U17 139-3 (20) by 7 wickets
Shorn of key players Charlie and Aryan with nasty injuries, the u17s showed both great character and skill in overcoming a good Harrow team in the opening u17 league match of the delayed season. After an excellent spell by Gurman (0-10 off 4) and an early wicket by Amey, Harrow’s Niam hit the ball powerfully to make 50 and we were up against it. The returning Anish struck to remove Niam in his first over and offered a threat thereafter. Fielding was a mixed bag, although young Ashok was excellent.

With a steep chase in prospect, James and Ben raced out of the blocks although after a few overs James began to dominate the bowling with Ben sensibly rotating the strike. An opening partnership of 73 ended with Ben going for 19, while James raced to 52 off 38, before both perished to really excellent catches in the deep (take note, boys). With Harrow sensing an opening, mature batting from Kabir (21*), Jashan (12) and an effervescent Gurman (17* off 9) took us to victory with remarkably few alarms.
