Match report U15 Cup Northwood 119ao (17.1) lost to Uxbridge 196-4 (20) by 77 runs
Northwood came up against a very impressive Uxbridge batting outfit on a true wicket with one short boundary, meaning big runs were always likely. Despite removing the dangerous Reiss early on, 2 Uxbridge players raced to 50s. We exerted some more control in the middle with James and Tyler earning praise from the opposition coach.

Between innings the focus was to put the first half aside and concentrate on the good conditions for batting to do ourselves justice. After an unfortunate RO mix-up off the first ball, James and in particular Charlie took the fight to Uxbridge meaning we were actually ahead of the rate after 5 overs. Things tailed off a bit thereafter, although William Gurman and Tyler managed to make double figures which was pleasing. 3 batsmen were caught off balls that would have been wides and there were 5 run-outs nearly all the result of mix-ups or madly ambitious calling rather than particularly brilliant fielding.

However the positive is that this should be easier to put right than getting out through express or unplayable bowling. One other lesson is that occasionally there will be games when the target is out of reach and the lower order can use it to get time in the middle, much more valuable than nets, plus there is the annoyance factor to the opposition of keeping them out for the full 20 overs.
