Match report U15 League Northwood U15b 128-7 (18.3) beat West Harrow U15 125-9 (20) by 3 wickets

With West Harrow batting first, Rahul (3-25) and Ashok (1-17) opened the bowling with some good early pressure. At the start we had some good tight bowling. However as the innings went on, we had a mix of tight and not so tight bowling. We fielded well, with 4 catches by William, Yuv, Chirayu & Rahul. Remember at all times to keep your eye on the ball and attack the ball. Try not to wait for the ball to come to you. Do also remember to field from where the captain has placed you. This includes returning back to the same position after retrieving the ball rather than remaining where the ball was retrieved from. Reaching a total of 125, we ended up giving away 38 extras, which was a third of their total. We really do need to cut these down, especially the wides.

With Yuv (33 from 32 balls) and Jashan (38 from 31 balls) opening with the bat, they set about chasing the total down intelligently building a first wicket partnership of 83 from 10 overs. This was a great start with some good running and many boundaries. The required run rate had tumbled from 6.3 down to 4.3 runs per over. However with Jashan getting caught in the field, and soon after Yuv bowled, we lost a lot of momentum with some further quick wickets including a triple wicket maiden, the pressure was back on us. Rahul & Arian helped stabilise the innings again, getting us to 123 with two overs to go. However Rahul was then mankad'd despite already being warned about backing up, and was quickly followed out by Arian. With two new batsman in it became a little nervy, however we reached the target with 9 balls to spare.

With the start with the bat we had, we should not have made it as difficult as it became. We need to ensure that we continue the earlier momentum.

However it was a very pleasing win with some great effort all round. Well done all.
