Match report Northwood 136-5 (19.3) beat Eastcote 133-7 (20)

A great game of cricket, which ebbed and flowed at regular intervals, finally saw Northwood get over the line with 3 balls to go.

Ben and Sab set the tone with some excellent opening bowling, which with great support from James and Charlie Moore kept NCC mostly in the ascendancy, before the strong Eastcote no 7 hit some great shots to get to around a par total. With Kabir en route from his previous game, our 10 men did well in the field

James (23) and Charlie (13) looked good in reply but both of them as well as Ben (14) and Charlie M (12) got out when set, all eyes turned to the trademark orange trainers of Kabir, who was looking threatening. With 36 needed off 24, most of the healthy crowd were probably thinking NCC would fall 10-15 short. However the key turning point saw Kabir take 18 off the next over with a brutal 6 losing the ball. With Sab eager to show his credentials for the no. 7 spot, the remaining runs got chalked off and with only 5 needed off the final over, it was left to Kabir to smash the winning 4 to reach a really fine 50 in a match-winning innings.
