Match report Stanmore 114-7 (20) beat Northwood 100ao by 14 runs

A very disappointing evening where we missed out on an opportunity to get deep into the Playoffs with a somewhat timid batting performance against steady bowling.

Gurman and Ben produced a peach of a delivery each to clean bowl Stanmore top order players, but also produced some looser stuff. Sab was as economical as ever but the hard-hitting Sam led a Stanmore recovery to 60 at the halfway stage. The late introduction of James, however changed things – finally appearing to be over his finger injury, the captain picked up 5 wickets including an excellent caught and bowled.

No one really got going batting with only James (14) and Sab (22) making double figures.

As discussed afterwards, there is a huge amount of potential so the challenge is to convert that into more consistent performances. There are plenty of people at NCC on hand to encourage and guide the boys on their way.
