HSM B v Northwood Cricket Club Under 15b on Tue 14 May 2019 at 18:00
Northwood Cricket Club Lost by 2 wickets

Match report U15 League Northwood B 101-8 (20) lost to Harrow St Marys B 103-8 (20) by 2 wickets

With Yuv (17 from 18 balls) and Jashan (38 from 24 balls) opening with the bat, they set about building a good foundation with a solid partnership of 44, batting intelligently with many good shots from both, with boundaries a plenty. We lost a little momentum after the 2nd wicket consisting of a partnership of 19 with Jashan & Josh, before William (11) and Raj (9) added a bit more momentum with a partnership of 15 before an lbw call that looked to be missing. No one else really got going with only three batsman getting into double figures. With a total of 101-8 off 20 overs, which could have been another 10 or so runs higher with better running in between the wickets. We need to remember whose call it is and to ensure we run hard for the first and ensure we are ready to attempt the second.

In the field we done well with Rahul bowling tight at 4 overs for 9 runs. Wickets were shared between Sabarish (2), Josh (3) and Raj (3) who also had good economy with their four overs. After initially keeping HSM below the run rate, a couple of loose and punished overs in the middle allowed HSM to creep ahead in the run worm. Although we managed to close the gap again, with good tight bowling and taking several key wickets, HSM needed 3 runs off the last over to win. First ball the team call for a well fielded and attempted run out, for which the batsman appeared to be a good yard short however it wasn’t given to the dismay of the team and the crowd. Next ball dot ball. With the third ball off the final over HSM took the win.

Fielding, was good overall, with some great stops and dives, including a well watched bump ball by Matthew. There were 4 catches taken in total by Sabarish, Matthew who had the ball bounce out of his hands and then with reflexes caught it on its way back down, Jashan (2) one of which was one handed over and behind his head at extra cover. One thing to remember is if you are asked to go on the boundary, it means on the boundary, not 10 yards in.

The key improvement areas are preventing the extras, and ensuring we take the extra singles where we can.

Overall a great close game of cricket to watch which was nail biting right to the end. Well done on the great effort.
